Directions for CS5 Listening Blog
Each student is required to listen to 5 hours of American audio each week. You may listen to the radio while you drive your car, or you may watch TV at home. You may even go see an American movie at the theatre. You may also go to YouTube.com, Google Video, or anywhere else on the Internet, and find an audio or video file. AT LEAST 1 OR 2 HOURS OF LISTENING SHOULD BE 'ACADEMIC'; IN OTHER WORDS, YOU MUST ATTEND A LECTURE ON CAMPUS, OR GO SEE A SERIOUS MOVIE/DOCUMENTARY, ETC. Anthony will check the CS5 Listening Blog every Friday night, so please post 5 hours of listening posts by the end of the week. In order to pass CS5, you must post 5 hours per week, for the next 7 weeks.
Every time you do one listening (one movie, one lecture, one TV show, one radio program, etc…) you must go to the CS5 blog and write the following information:

In this episode of Survivor, there were 4 people left on the island. All four people were competing to win the big prize. The people had a big race and a man named Michael won the race. They did many things like playing a game with fire, and making a boat out of wood from trees on the island.
REACTION:
I liked this episode of Survivor because it was interesting and I learned many new words.
NEW WORD/PHRASE:
"On your mark, get set, go." This is a phrase used when people are about to start a race. A person yells it and then when he says "go" everybody must race.

SUMMARY:
Lewis, the lead singer and a guitarist, Lila, a cellist, accidently met at a party and fell in love.
But there love lasted only one night. Lila’s father separated them, and Lila gave a birth to a baby Evan. However, Lila’s father told her a lie that she lost her baby.
Evan grew up to be very musically talented child. Believing that only his parents would recognize his music, he went to New York by himself. On the way to New York, he met a stranger, Wizard, and started performing his own ingenious music on the streets. Wizard gave Evan a new name, August Rush.
After being separated from Lewis, Lila gave up her dream of being a cellist. But when she learned that her child is alive, she headed to New York. Hoping to find her child, she started playing the cello again. At that time, Lewis, who has given up his dream of being a lead singer, also headed to New York due to his fateful love and passion for music he had 11 years earlier.
After meeting August on accident, Lewis played guitar with August and extremely impressed by August’s talent. August mention the performance he was about to have on Sunday to Lewis. Lewis promised that if there is a music performance at the central park, he would not miss it for the world. He left after saying that he would definitely be at the performance.
Scared of Wizard, August ran away from Wizard and went into a church. He encountered a piano in the church. He did not know anything about music note, but he learned a few music symbol from a child in the church, then he started composing music whole day and played pipe organ. Seeing this, the pastor of the church made August helped to be accepted at the Juilliard Music School through a special admission process.
August demonstrated his talent at the school, and became a conductor at an annual outdoor music festival. Lila, who also studied at Juilliard Music School thought she needed to play music in order to meet August, so she played the cello at the same concert. When August was performing, Lila and Lewis were there also. August’s performances attracted both of them, and draw both of them to the stage. Thus, three of them met at the same place fatefully.
REACTION:
This movie show us what destiny is, and we can listen to wonderful music, through watching this movie.

I watched to a Movie called "Be Cool”
• Length

• Summary
Chili Palmer is a man that usually was in movies business but now he want to begin in music business, because his friend in this business is killed by Russian mafia and he saw the opportunity. His first singer is a young woman with an amazing voice (Linda Moon) but she already have a contract with another company. Chili have to affront dangerous and funny situations with the producer that have the contract of Linda and with the Russian mafia, but also he had time enough to flirting with the wife of his dead friend. Finally Linda becomes in a very famous singer.
• Reaction /opinion
I found this movie so amusing because tell the story in a funny way without be ridiculous. In add, this movie have excellent actors like John Travolta and Uma Thurman

• Title
I watched an episode of a TV show called "NCIS”
• Length

In this episode 3 young boys find a revolver, which was used like a murder weapon. They can not see the seriously of this matter. They lie and cover some details, but finally the team of NCIS discovered that one of died boys committed suicide and his girlfriend kills the other boy because thought that was his responsibility.

I really enjoy this kind of shows because always had a unexpected turns.

• Title
I watched to a Movie called "Invisible”
• Length
2 hours
• Summary
Invisible is a cultural and scientific movie and comment the story of the Arctic people. This movie tells the story about the chemicals is in their bodies and passed from mother to child. This hormone is causing chaos with the health of the animal and humans. Also, this chemical is founding in the breast milk.
The story is commented in first person and mixes the typical music, environment and culture of the arctic citizens. Also, you can see that this people eat raw beef and maybe this is the problem to this chemical in their body because this beef has metal mercury.
Reaction /opinion
Finally after the movie we discussed about the movie, and I learn that we should be careful with the food that we eat. Also, I think that we should create a good way to eat healthy. I enjoyed this movie.

Is the story of one MIT teacher that opens a capsule with some draws of the future that has been drawn by children 50 years ago. Then his son has the letter with some number that are some chilling predictions that had ocurred. Then he begin to research about this papers and he found the daughter of the girl that had wrote this numbers, they are very affraid because the prediction show the end of the world. Finally his son and the daughter of the another girl will be the Adan and Eva of the new World and the Earth is destroyed.
REACTION:
This movie is awesome now I think about how the people are destroying ourself. I Think that is a excelent mix between theology, science and social behavior. 100% recommended.

Listening March 23-27 #3
• Title
I watched a documentary that Anthony recommends to us “Invisible”
• Length
1 hours
• Summary
This documentary tells us about the levels of chemicals in Baffin Island. The pollution goes to this far place and is affecting the local people, because their diet is based in seals and fish and this animal are contaminated.
Some scientist found that the levels of chemicals in breastfeed go off the scale. These levels are 7 times higher and this situation can cause a lot of diseases and neurological effects in a long term.
This diet is a tradition there and, also having the information about the risk, the local people don’t change theirs minds and we have to wait generations to find the effects.
All is cause-effects relation, all is connected and for now “nothing is concluding but all is frustrating” conclude the documentary.
• Reaction /opinion
If as well we know, create conscience about the effects of our currents actions in the environment and understand the interdependence in our universe is so important. But this has to be a personal determination. I found this documentary so interesting but a little bit repulsive. The story, the music and photography are amazing but it is so explicit when they take the knife, cut the frozen seals and put the pieces into their mouths. I dont like this kind of scenes.

Before I watched this video, I didn’t know there had pollution and I thought there was very clear. The old thinking was wrong. In the world, I am not sure where don’t have any pollution. The information let me felt sed. In this movie, I saw many people eat uncooked food, and the food had blood. That let me felt nauseating.

Summary:
Invisible is a movie describe people's life form Artic. Those people have wrong myths and believes which are eating sea dog meat is useful for them and warming them from freezing weather. In fact, they suffer of many diseases because of chemicals such as mercury and selenium which are harmful. The wrose dangers is on babies and pregnant women because women breastfeed their babies, so , they give them contaminant milk.
Response:
I was thrilled by this movie and I just realized how much cultures are different from my culture.
However, its hard to change people's believes because they are not educated. But the chance to help them is by protect and educate the new generation.

Summary:
About a young man want to do something good in his life. So, he travels from small town in Chicago to find job, he was looking to be journalistic but by real life because he has no experience to do any thing. He also work at restaurant but later, he has been ambulance driver.
Response:
The life is not easy as this young man thought. In our life there is a lot of things that comes in unexpected condition. But I remember that wisdom : the thing that does not destroy you, it makes you strong.

He asks his friends to help him. During the tournament he falls in love with a girl as one of his rivals does, Count Adhemar. He wins all competitors, but Count Adhemar. They both try to so hard to win a girl’s heart. At the ultimate champion William’s background is reveal by Count Adhemar. He is cut off from this competition because he doesn’t have quality to join. Fortunately a prince names him to be Sir William. William returns to competition and defeats Count Adhemar. HAPPY ENDING.
Reaction:
I have seen this movie when I was 13 years old. Then I lost it and couldn’t find it in Thailand. I just bought this movie at BestBuy a week ago. I really love it. There is a strong passion about society level and love.
It doesn’t matter where you from. It depends what you want to be and push yourself to it. William was born in a poor family. He is an orphan. However, he does whatever it takes him to get what he wants. I can adapt it to myself. If I desire to get master degree, I must work hard to get it. There is always a way out.

SUMMARY:
Memorable discovery, measles virus has been transformed into vaccine which can cure cancers and has been in 10,009 clinical trials in human in New York. Later on those people, who have been treated have lost their mind and their instinct; become a “dark seeker”. The dark seekers harm other. Whoever got bit from dark seekers becomes one of them. New York is sealed off by the government for protection the remaining. Only a man survives in New York, who lose his entire family in this severely calamity has dedicated his life to research a serum that can cure dark seekers, Dr. Robert Neville. Everyday at a seaport, when the sun is high up in the sky, Neville broadcasts on the radio for finding the other survivors. One day a woman with a boy following his voice from the radio comes to him and asks him if he want to join them to go up north to find a colony or safe zone. He doesn’t believe there is such a thing. He insists he can find a serum and cure all dark seekers. Unfortunately, at night they are tracked by a flock of dark seekers. Those animals attack them without mercy. Luckily, a woman and a boy escape with a great discovery of him. They go up north and find a colony. Neville’s dedication is legend.
Reaction:
I really like this movie. It reminds me about human future. Is it possible that our world will have this circumstance? Human should be aware of what they are doing. Whatever they are doing, are do protecting or ruin themselves? Human should know their limit.

It’s about the luckiest woman, Ashley, who lives in Manhattan. Whatever she does comes out perfectly. One they a fat guy who is important client of her company has a conference in her company. She is only one who takes care of him while they are waiting for the rest of people. They come very late but it’s all right. He likes the way Ashley handles him somehow. After that she gets a promotion and she has to make a party for an important client. That night she meets a guy, Jake, and they kiss. After that she realizes that she loses her luck by kissing. Every thing she does come out reverse. They meet each other again, but they are not recognized. Jake become fame instead of her. Ashley tries to find the guy who steals her luck. Finally she finds him who is her boy friend. She definitely takes her kiss back and every thing seems back to normal. Ashley gets her luck back and Jake jets unlucky instead of her. Thing is not that easy. Ashley falls deeply in love with him. She can’t let it happen. Then they both give their kiss to a girl who is Jake’s friend from next door. They finally get together.

This movie is talking about the pollution from humans. We made a lot of pollutions in the earth. These pollution affected our life, but we didn’t know. There are some people who live in Arctic. Arctic is a very natural place, and very cold there. People ate seal meat that was their tradition. They could get a lot of nutrition from seal. There were some scientists found some chemicals in seal meat. That caused them to get cancers. Why the seal have chemicals in seal meat? Because we polluted the ocean and affected the sealife. This movie warned us to stop to make pollution in the earth.
Reaction:
I think the best section is many white papers floated to a person in the snowfield. The white papers mean many pollution and we can’t see, because snowfield is white color. This section show the main idea, and it is very interesting.

Summary :
In this three episodes of "Lost", the oceanic 6 survivor came back to the island by plane, but they divided to two groups .the first one return to 1970 and they found their previous friends who lifted in the island. However, the other group was looked for them and they found a man who called Christian and he view a picture which was taken on 1970.they shocked when they saw that picture .Sa'aid was in the jungle and his friend tried to help him but the others voted to kill him .his friend tried to help him to flee from the prison but he denied. A little boy made a fire then he opened the prisons to fee to the jungle. unexpected thing was that Sa'aid killed him .
Reaction :
These episodes were interesting because it was different than my expectation .

They talk about the economic, stock market and their effects.
I listen to this twice and I couldn't understand the main ideas at the first time because they have difficult accent

Summary:
When Benjamin was born, he was a very old man. His mother died due to born him so his father didn’t like him and sent him away. There was a kind woman who adopted him. Everyone thought he would die except the woman. Benjamin’s childhood was bad because there was nobody who was willing to play with him except a girl. Therefore, they became friends. Unbelievably, Benjamin changed with increasing age in contrary way. That means, he was younger and younger. After many years, Benjamin became handsome and young man. He met the girl who played with him in his childhood. They fell in love with each other and had a baby. However, Benjamin worried about that he would affect his daughter because he was not a normal person. He became younger and younger but her daughter because older and older so he chose leaving and left all the money. After many years, Benjamin lost his memory because he had become a baby. When the doctor found the woman whose name on his book, his wife couldn’t believe all things and brought him home. Eventually, Benjamin died in his wife’s arms as a baby who was just born.
I like it very much. The movie makes me think things in other ways. I like the story.

I watched a documentary “Invisible”

• Summary
The documentary was about how is the effect of pollution in places that we thought never have been affected. The places such as Baffin Island, which is one of the most clean places around the world. The pollution in industrializaded countries, also impact this countries such as U.S.In addiction, a person who lives there said that the chemicals impact their children live, nursing their babies, etc.
Therefore, they showed their lifestyle, diet which is based in raw fish, in order to reduce the pollution and garantee a better life for their children, but their usually diet is also contamited, because, for example the dogseas are affected for chemiscal which are in oceans.
They explained we have to think about the chemicals effects in our future and in our children quality of live.
Finally, the documentary concluded with the huge importance of pollution effects in our lives. Thus,The future risk in our planet.
• Reaction /opinion
As far as I know the chemical are contaminating our refuge and our normaly live. For example, our healht, quality of life, stress, and horrible diseases such as cancer.
We have to think about our future generation and the qualitu of live that they are going to have. In addiction, It is important to start changing first from ourselves, children, families, friend and think solutions to reduce the pollution in our comunitees, neighbordhood, countries, etc.
Also, another good idea is keep growing our own products and avoiding buying products and services that aren't necessary in our life. Try to do a change and raise important think to live with benefits. To garantte a better future.

I watched a movie “PS I love you.”

The movie was about a couple who were so happy. One day the man died due a serios disease, but he try to help his wife giving her a bouch of gifts that help her to remenmer him and try to relived the good moments they had when he was lived.
Also It was a hard moment for her because she couldn't accept his husnad was dead but her family and friend were giving their support in her hard moment.
Finally she accepted her husband dead and she pushed herself in doing her favorite hoobie which was desining fancies shoes to distract her.
Finally she became in the most famous shoes designer.

The movie was beautiful and a great romantic movie which is a wonderful movie for the people who lived a hard time when they lost their relatives.

This movie is about Tony Montana, he is from Cuba and he come to Miami, he begin to be a drug dealer and make a lot of money with his business. He will be the best and most important dealer in Miami but he has some problem with his enemies. Finally he is killing by the enemies.

This movie is good is really amazing, but is very violent. However, is a good movie and I recommended 100 %

The movie was talking about a famous singer, he want to stay the stage again. He should make a song in the several days. The song’s name is “Way back into love”. He had a big trouble, because he usually wrote the melodies, not the lyrics. He found a girl, she can wrote the lyric, so they worked every day. When they finished the song, they were happy. The singer very liked this song, but the singer wanted to change the melody. The lyrical didn’t want to change anything, so they had big argued. Actually, he loved her. When the singer sang this song, the lyrical think that already change the melody. When she moved out, he sang the song for himself. Than the song also told her that he loved her. The ending song, that didn’t change anything.
4. REACTION:
I like this movie. The music are really good, and the “Way back into love” becomes my favor song. This movie is a love story. In the life, sometimes we didn’t care about someone near us. When they left us, we would know they are very important to us.

This movie is talking about a true story. A British boy Jim lived in Shanghai where was a city of China in 1941. When Japan invaded China, Jim and his parents separated. The Japanese army send Jim to concentration camp, and there are many foreigners there. In the concentration camp, he didn’t have good life there. He experienced hunger, death, loneliness, and he almost forgot what his mother’s face was. He didn’t think about the Japanese army were bad people, because he was too young. He didn’t know what the war was, and he was a prisoner of war, even he saw a light from the east of the sky, he thought that is the soul of his British friend Mrs. Victor who died by hunger. Actually that light was the atomic bomb that America army dropped into Japan. He made a friend with a young Japanese pilot, because he loved fighter planes. He thought they were hero, and he respected them very much.
When the World War Two finished, the America army found Jim, and send him to an orphanage in Shanghai. His parents came to orphanage looking for Jim. His father could not recognize him, because Jim was more haggard than other children. Finally, his mother recognized him, and he remembered his mother’s hair. Jim came back to his parents, but he already got a lot of harm.
Reaction/Opinion:
There are wars in some countries, but sometimes they didn’t know why they made war. This movie let me know how the war affected a child. When Jim grows up, he would forget these things? Could he be a normal person? How about the children live in the countries where are fight now, like Iraq? Why did America always make war in other countries? We should think about that.

Summary:
The back ground of time was in the panic age. The famous boxer Jim Breadock was not an exception of the victim of the economic stagnation at the time. Unable to pay rent of his house, he could barely live on the governmental relief fund.His life as a boxer seemed to have gone. One cold winter day without electricity, he had to send his children to his relative's.However, he couldn't give up his ambition for boxing.
He fights on the ring with his wounded arm but he was taken his name off the list on the reason that his fought was too dispirited.
Afterward, he works in the pier of the harbour and his weak arm recovers to again normal strength so that he can fight in the ring as a replacement of an absent fighter.
For the last chance to support his family, nobody expected to see him start again but on the contrary he marks victory one after nother. Without noticing, Jim Breadock is idolized to the people as he repeats winning.Finally he is fated to fight the champion Max Bear who have killed two opponents earlier. He wins after a blood shedding fight at the match. He fails to win the first defending bout, nevertheless, he remains as the hero of the people of the United States. People called him The Cinderella Man.
Reaction/Opinion:
-This film was made based on his true story. He is said to be the mythical hero in the history of boxing with his nick name of Cinderella Man.
-Most of all, by seeing the champion and the United States in the panic age, I came to think of the meaning of the word 'Hope'

This is an interesting and moving movie. A man, his name is Tom. He is a player, and he devised the “coffee collar”. He earned a lot of money. He didn’t care about his good friend, Hannah. When she told him she will get married and she hopes he can make her honor. He starts to think about their relationship. He was a player before, but no one is his favor. Between he make an honor, he is sure he loves her, and he wants to get married with her. Finally, Hannah didn’t get married with other person. Then, they get married.
REACTION:
A boy makes an honor is not possible, but that also feels strange. I can’t believe a man can do that. If my good friend hopes me to do it, maybe I will do. I think something important is he can think about his feeling. Sometimes we can’t care about our feeling, and we usually forget other people’s feeling. We have to learn how to care other people and our feeling.

Finally, he could helped a child who were his workmate's daugther be assassinated.

It was an interesting movie in which we can see the real child life in INDIA. The film is a refletion for everybody and see the poverty in the poor countries where doesn't have any children rights.

Last weekend, I went to a christian church. First of all I was listening the chirstian sermon by the pastor for 2 hours. He was talking about the holy week. He began the service by reading the bible while everybody was raising their hands signing the songs. After that, he was giving his opinion about the passage. In addition, he said how important is for us the holy week, and the sacrificied who jesus did to forgive us of yours sins.

It was a little bit boring because is different from my religion, but at the same time was new and interesting.
Also,I could understand the whole service and giving my opinion about it sahring with my mom friend's friends'.
Even thought I don't have the same religion I can learn and think about which is main point of religions. I think that the most important is have a faith.

He began to selling and collections in a drug market. He was a killer, and by the time he killed his boss in order to be a drug dealer more important in that time im MIAMI, U.S.
He had a frind who wanted to get married with her sister, but he was jelous for his sister. His friend never got his permission to allow him. Even more, Tony (scarface)because of his scar in his face, killed his friend. this was a had time forhis sister who decided to comitted suicide.
Finally, Tony was killed for his enemis in the drug dealer world.

Finally, It was a interesting movie, and I could see how is the drug dealers world. I recommend this movie.It is very important to have happiness than money in our lives.
